I bought this bag to go on my hitch mounted cargo carrier (Pro Series 63153, bought here on Amazon, too). I am very pleased with how well this bag performed on our road trip. We drove 1000+ miles one way and passed through quite a bit of very heavy rain. The bag held up flawlessly- zero leaks. Bag is reasonably roomy- We used it to fit 3 18 gallon Rubbermaid bins side by side- the fit was perfect. With the bag un-expanded, the fit was very snug. Tie downs are reasonable and did the job without issue. I would have felt comfortable using them to strap the bag to roof rails if needed.

we needed for a long trip to Tahoe last week and as advertised, it was waterproof, though I can't say the test was extreme. I bought this to put into my metal hitch basket, and if fit well into that basket with some room on the sides to put in smaller items. They're very well mated. This thing is well constructed. we put two large suitcases in it (flat on their side) and had to really tug on the bag to bring the edges together, which put some strain on the zippers. It wasn't overstretched, because the material is tough. . But it closed up tight and the flap came down perfectly on the Velcro. Even with two suitcases, I had about 2 cubic feet of room on the side. Sometimes with these products you can have a bad odor but not the case with this. It has 3 sets of two things ( i don't know what they're called) through which i passed my long straps. That prevents it from moving in all directions. Despite some aggressive driving, it never shifted. It doesn't have an internal structure which is good from the standpoint of room, but makes cleaning the exterior more complicated.

They must've changed the composition since some of these negative reviews. Mine is neither shiny black, nor is it just straight plastic. The material isn't nylon (I'm not sure how waterproof you can make nylon) and it feels like a rubber/plastic composition. It feels very durable with zippers that are the big-tooth style that never stretch/peel apart and never having to to back the zipper out and try again (hate that). It has fold-over corners and water-tight seams throughout. I have 6 Intex River Run I river tubes, Intex Mega Chill Floating Cooler and a Coleman Road Trip Grill LXE that fit in there nicely, with room to spare (planning on putting our camping chairs in there as well). The fact that it expands vertically is really nice. I've only done a dry run; we're going camping this weekend. If anything changes, I'll update this review, but from what I see that came in the box, this seems like pretty good quality and the price seems very reasonable. It does look like what is in the picture here.

Took it on a two week long trip, and it worked out great. Perfectly fit the hitch cargo carrier I purchased on here as well and the straps were great for keeping the bag secured to the trailer. I didn't have any problems with melting since I made sure my exhaust was far enough away and not facing directly at the bag. The bag is very heavy duty. I packed the bag very tight and had some trouble getting it zipped up, but the bag held together. I know others complained about the plastic like fabric, but everything still felt like it was very high quality. It did a great job of keeping my items dry, and because it is a soft bag, it made it easy to smash up and move out of the way. The only problem I had was after driving on a dirt road it got a little dirty and was difficult to clean off when it was empty (getting into all the bends and folds), but was easily able to use a wet cloth to wipe it clean.

First off... Yes, the bag that you get will not look much like the picture. It is not Nylon like the picture portrays, I'm not sure what it is but it has a shiny plastic look but very heavy duty. Much like a heavy duty tarp or a pool liner. Which I think is for the better. I can't imagine trying to clean a nylon bag with all the road debris, especially salt on winter roads. I had the bag shipped to my parents in Michigan (I'm in Dallas) knowing that we would need it to fit Christmas presents in on the way home but wouldn't need it for the trip up there. I kind of wish I had it for the way up there since we drive through 19 straight hours of torrential rain. It would have been the perfect test. The ride back was almost rain-less, just some sprinkles here and there but gathered like I said earlier, "road debris, especially salt from the winter roads". 1200 miles later there was no moisture in the bag and when we got home the debris hosed off of the bag very easily. The bag felt very secure with only the built in straps and never needed to be tightened (I checked at every stop). The straps were fairly easy to attach and detach, making it easy to lift up the bag and throw in the vehicle for overnight hotel stays. I think the size was just perfect. I put it on a MaxxTow cargo carrier on a 2008 GMC Acadia. The bag was big enough to fit 1 large suitcase, 2 small suitcases, a large duffle bag and a large dirty laundry mesh bag. All while still being able to close and open the hatch without issues. I read about people concerned about the material being so close to the exhaust. I also checked that at every stop and never felt any heat or signs of melting on the material. I guess it would depend on the vehicle as to how close it is, but I wouldn't think that should be a large concern. In the end, it was perfect for what we needed. In matter of fact would NOT have been able to make the trip back without it since my newborn cleaned up at Christmas. Looking forward to many trips with it

This bag is great! We bought it for a drive from Northern Michigan south, through all kinds of salt and snow. The back of the car was completely covered in ice, snow and salt. Our bags inside were completely dry and salt-free when we arrived. The straps and buckles seem very durable, and the material seems pretty sturdy. It holds a good bit, as well. The zipper opens to extend the height and allow for more cargo. We easily packed 4 overnight bags, a hanging bag, and our girls' doll suitcases, and still had some room to spare.

This is an excellent bag! I bought it along with a CURT 18153 Hitch carrier. Together they make traveling so much easier. In love with the size of the bag. It expands to fit everything. The zippers are strong and held all the luggage for our trip. It rained several times and nothing inside ever got wet! I was so glad I had chosen this bag as all of our clothes for a week were packed inside. The straps easily and securely attached to the side railing of the hitch carrier. I am thrilled I purchased this bag. Don't spend hours over-thinking this purchase like I did. Get it! You wont regret it!

Absolutely LOVED using this bag. It left us with plenty of room in the car for a December road trip from Maine to St. Louis. It also endured the crazy weather from cold rain to a Cleveland blizzard, and everything stayed clean and dry. *** WORD OF CAUTION!!! *** I was driving a '15 Subaru Forester. The ROLA carrier that I bought with the bag, which is secured to the vehicle at the tow hitch, sat just even with the rear bumper. The exhaust, although lower than the bumper, got hot enough to melt the edge of the carrier and one of the six straps as well as the bungee net I had over top of the bag (securing things that weather wouldn't hurt). Luckily, it didn't damage the actual bag or the structural integrity of the carrier, but I do feel lucky that nothing caught fire fire. It was something that didn't even cross my mind for the trip out. The resolve I came up with for the return trip home was purchasing a 45° "turn down" pipe from the local parts store in St. Louis. I clamped it to the tailpipe and forced the exhaust down and under the carrier. It worked like a charm!!!!

Worked really well for a 700 mile trip to Hilton Head Island using it with my 48" Harbor Freight hitch mounted luggage carrier. I bought some ratchet straps from Lowes for ~$15 and looped it through the buckles on the bag to give it a little more support and off I went. The ratchet straps also made it easier to mount/remove the bag from the carrier. I also put some thin plywood under the bag to support it as others on here suggested. It worked pretty good for me. As a side note it fit perfectly in the back of my 2014 Toyota Highlander fully loaded when I had to lock it up for an overnight stay at a hotel on the way back. All I had to take to the hotel room was what we needed for the night and the rest I left in the SUV. It only rained a little bit on the trip so I can't say much about how waterproof it is, but I am satisfied with the durability.

We used this bag on a 3,000 mile round trip without any issues. The weather conditions varied from intense heat to storming rain. The bag didn't leak at all or show any signs of wear. Everything packed inside was in the same condition as when we packed it. I would definitely recommend it to anyone and would buy it again. We used the provided straps and used two ratchet straps to secure the bag to the basket. It didn't move an inch.
